Working in Private Childcare & Education

Working within an HNW or UHNW private household can be very different from working in a traditional childcare environment.

Families may have complex schedules, frequent international travel, multiple residences and structured households involving Personal Assistants, House Managers and other members of staff. Discretion, professionalism, adaptability and a clear understanding of professional boundaries are therefore particularly important.

Nannies, Newborn Care Specialists, Maternity Nurses, Governesses, Academic Tutors and other professionals specialising in family support, including Sleep Consultants, Lactation Consultants and Weaning Consultants, may each operate within these environments according to their specific expertise and responsibilities.

Professional Preparation

Alongside relevant experience, HNW and UHNW families may place particular importance on a professional’s education, qualifications and ongoing training.

Diplomas or university degrees in Childcare, Education, Child Development or related fields can be highly valued, although they are not necessarily required for every role. Relevant Paediatric First Aid and Choking Response training, together with other role-specific qualifications and certifications, can be particularly important.

As many private households are international, proficiency in English and additional languages can also be a significant advantage.
